HMS MediCall© Mobile Edition
HMS MediCall ME© powered by HMS Mobile Accelerator© is a state-of-the-art, completely integrated mobile version of HMS which allows Clinicians to treat patients at home using all the features of the full HMS system.
Clinicians can now view Live Activity and view full patient history records including recent calls actioned by other Clinicians, as all data is kept fully up-to date. Out Of Hours Clinicians can Triage while out on the road and update the patient record immediately, enabling the Service to run as efficiently as possible. Calls can be passed from the car to anywhere within the HMS system using Pass Locations. Both Mobile and Desktop versions of HMS MediCall© look and function identically, making the training of new users quicker and easier.
This technology could also be used to enable Clinicians to work securely from home without the need for expensive N3 connections or extra hardware or software.
Within our team we have expertise of setting up mobile communications networks and our current mobile solution uses 'rugged' laptops (pictured right) that connect directly to the comms hub securely via the GPRS network. The laptops have a long battery life and can be mounted and recharged in-car if need be. They are also extremely tough and waterproof.
The clinician can take the laptop into the patient's house, type up notes and print a prescription, PGD or hospital admission form on the spot with a Bluetooth battery operated printer. Or if they prefer, they can print a call sheet and handwrite their notes and enter them into the system after the consultation.
By using the HMS Mobile Accelerator© we are able to make the most of the stability and wide coverage of the GPRS network. When faster networks such as 3G improve their signal coverage to an acceptable level, the devices are enabled to take advantage of this. However even the GPRS network is affected by signal blackspot areas, so we have written unique software that allows Clinicians to treat patients and enter notes onto the laptop even in areas with no signal. Then, when a signal becomes available, the information is automatically sent back to the hub and details of any new calls can be downloaded to the laptop.
Another important, potentially life-saving, feature of this technology is that, when the call information is downloaded, we include the eastings and northings of the patient's location which can then be fed into a Sat-Nav system that will take you direct to the patient. This information is taken from the Ordnance Survey© postcode database and the system we use takes you direct to the 'chimney pot' of the location, not just the street.
We believe that HMS MediCall ME© powered by HMS Mobile Accelerator© is a product with unique capabilities and puts HMS, and therefore our customers, at the forefront of mobile clinical technology.
